In Japan, many people visit a shrine at the beginning of the year.

This is called hatsumode.

They give thanks for the past year and pray for health and peace in the new year.

Our karate activity for international visitors, TOKYO KARATE DOJO EXPERIENCE, is held in Shimo, a quiet neighborhood in Kita City, Tokyo.

There are shrines nearby, such as Shimo Kumano Shrine and Iwabuchi Yakumo Shrine, where you can enjoy hatsumode.

If you have time before or after the activity, please visit one of them.
